(AP) — The Wisconsin state Senate is poised to approve a plan to spend more than half a billion dollars of public funds to help the Milwaukee Brewers repair their stadium over the next three decades. The Senate is expected to vote on the proposal during a floor session set to begin Tuesday morning. As of last week, Republican Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu was still trying to lock down enough votes to push the package. Brewer officials initially said the team might leave Milwaukee if they didn't get public dollars to help with the repairs. The Assembly last month approved a plan that calls for the state to contribute $411.5 million and the city of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County to contribute a combined $135 million.

NEW YORK, June 29 (Reuters) - Shareholders in Alkermes have re-elected all of the biotechnology company's directors, according to two sources familiar with the matter on Thursday, dealing a blow to hedge fund Sarissa Capital Management which pushed to put three candidates on the board. Sarissa, which owns 8.5% of Alkermes, has long criticized the company's stock price and how the biotechnology company is run, and nominated three candidates, including its co-founder, Alex Denner, as director candidates to the 11-member board. But investors in the biotechnology company, which is valued at $5.3 billion, stuck by all incumbents in one of the year's most closely watched proxy contests. Representatives for the company and Sarissa could not be reached for comment. Alkermes had previously refreshed the board with new directors several times in recent years and has had success in developing and bringing new drugs to market.

Glenda Jackson was five minutes late for our meeting, and she looked ferociously disgusted with herself, with the universe, with the “bloody” London transit system and, most likely, with the prospect of having to talk about herself. Such was my first in-the-flesh encounter with Jackson, who died Thursday at the age of 87 and who had seared herself into my teenage consciousness decades earlier as an uncompromisingly modern, sui generis movie star.
